Gardai have turned back four Meath residents from a checkpoint outside Fermoy in Cork earlier today.
An online post from the Gardai confirmed the incident and claimed the driver and his three passengers told them theyw ere ona pleasure spin.
The post stated, ‘Gardaí in Cork this morning discovered a motorist who made the almost three-hour journey from Meath to Cork, just for “the spin and to visit”.At the checkpoint in Fermoy, Gardaí found the driver, along with three passengers on non-essential travel, breaching the current government directives.
“Please remember the 2km radius and only essential travel,” Gardaí urged the public online.’
In fairness the cars occupants were only a mere 261 kilometres outside the exclusion zone !.
