The unsuccessful Aontu candidate in the Slane area for the last local elections, Peter Whelan, has called on John Halligan, minister of state for training and skills and with responsibility for school transport , to back an Aontu bill which proposes removing unelected ministers within six months of election results.

Whelan told Meath Live, ‘ He wanted to retire after the last election and has stated publicly on the Today radio programme with Sarah Mc inerney that he doesn’t really want to be in this crazy situation where he is not an elected minister but yet is making serious decisions which will change the way we will live out our lives going forward.

‘For me that is  all

Aontu’s Peter Whelan

the more reason for him to support Aontû bill to remove unelected ministers within 6 months of election results .’
