The Sinn Fein Td for Meath West, Johnny Guirke, has told Meath Live that his party will ultimately be the ones to deliver the much sought after Navan to Dublin rail link.

He claimed, ‘ With no rail line being proposed in the Programme For Government,  (PFG), Sinn Fein remains committed to delivering a rail line service to Navan and the 30,000 plus people living there.

‘My party was the only party before the election to commit to the Navan Rail line, having passed a motion at our Ard Fheis proposed by myself and Darren O Rourke TD.

‘Sinn Fein are the only party capable of delivering a rail line service to Navan, we will continue to fight for this service because it is a necessity for County Meath. ‘

Guirke expressed deep reservations over the lack of commitment to the Meath West area in the PFG, saying, ‘ I am disappointed that there was no mention of Investment or upgrading of services in my constituency.

‘There was nothing in the PFG  for Navan Hospital, and Sinn Fein will be watching closely for further developments at the hospital to ensure that no further downgrading of services is applied by the government.’
