Our exclusive report on Friday, saw Bird’s SuperValu, in Beechmount shopping complex, confirm that one of their workers had tested positive while another was self isolating for fourteen days after coming into ‘casual contact’ with the person who had tested positive.
Today the Irish Independent website revealed that An Daoine Og creche in Beechmount Industrial estate had admitted that two staff ,members had also tested positive.
The creche is roughly 700 metres from the supermarket.
One source told Meath Live, ‘ The understanding locally is that creche workers may have used the SuperValu to buy their lunch and the belief is there is a direct connection.
‘It seems a coincidence that all three people affected were told they were positive the same day,’
Creche boss, Marie Daly told www.independent.ie, “All our staff’s temperatures are taken three times every day and none of the two staff who tested positive had a temperature.’
She described the results as ‘extremely devastating, and added, ‘ We have invested €10,000 in PPE equipment, but, thankfully , results of testing on all seven staff and most of the children have returned negative but the facility is awaiting the results of the remaining children.’
Numerous emails to the HSE today have gone unanswered.
