Independent Senator Sharon Keogan has hit out at Dara Calleary and the leaders of the government parties over the former minister’s attendance at the Clifden dinner party.

She blasted, ‘This country is heading towards an economic and health crisis. People are worried about their future and that of their families.

‘We are looking to our Taoiseach and our government to put the welfare of our citizens first. We need all members of this government to lead by example and not have “one rule for us” and a completely different rule for them.

‘How can a TD of this government blatantly ignore the government guidelines and expect everyone else to follow them?

‘It demonstrates how out of touch this government is with the reality of the world we are living in.

‘It is completely unacceptable and unfair at a time when all members of the government should be showing leadership.’
