One of the Irish Examiner journalists who broke the GolfGate story was told, by a press officer. from the Department Of Health not to ask questions of health minister Stephen Donnelly, about the gathering at a hotel in Clifden which has seen both Agriculture minister, Dara Calleary and Senator Jerry Buttimer resign their positions.

However Paul Hosford, quite rightly, ignored the attempt to censor the press and carried on regardless.

In fairness to Donnelly, he didn’t shy away from answering the questions either.
