Education minister,Norma Foley, and the Department of Education have approved an extension for Dunshaughlin Secondary School earlier today.

The college will receive 12 general classrooms, a multi-use hall, specialist rooms, and a four-classroom special educational needs base. Staff will also be getting new accommodation.

The added facilities will allow room for roughly 1250 additional students.

Dunshaughlin based Meath County Councillor Gerry O’Connor took to Facebook with his reaction.

“This will be a permanent build and will allow the temporary accommodation to be removed. As the former Chairman of the Board of Management, I am delighted with the news”.

The village also saw the opening of a new national school last week. Dunshaughlin Community National school is now the third primary school in the locality.
