Meath and Louth County Councils have confirmed that they are meeting in the middle of October to start the process of preparing for a collaborative strategy for the South Drogheda area.
The urban area plan will look at joint-measures for more investment into the local economy and its amenities.
The councils have been given the green light to work on a joint urban area plan for East Meath and Drogheda.
This will be beginning next month.
