A tweet by Dundalk goalkeeper Gary Rogers featuring a picture of fans clustered together at yesterdays Meath SFC final between Kells and Ratoath and another of fans appearing to keep the required social distance at a League Of Ireland soccer match has seen over 3.5 thousand people like it.

See below what the ‘keeper, who has coached the Meath gaelic goalies posted beside the picture.

His comment got a mixed response with Irish Independent soccer writer, Daniel McDonnell backing the Bohermeen native when he tweeted, ‘About time it was pointed out so clearly – perhaps a footballer steeped in GAA can get away with it without being accused of oneupmanship. Its a valid point – I cannot believe the crowd pics I am seeing from GAA games but the lockdown misery will be centred around their plight.’

However a tweeter called Ciaran Byrne was clearly unimpressed as he replied, to McDonnell saying ‘ Irish football is shite in a bucket standard. GAA is our game Dan.
