Aontu East Meath representative Peter Whelan, has blasted a Facebook post, put up earlier today, by Meath County Council which advises farmers that they are responsible for the clean up and disposal of household rubbish that has been illegally dumped on their land.
Whelan, who runs the Whole Hoggs pig farm outlet near Slane, responded with a post of his own saying, ‘This is a disgraceful post for Meath county council to put up .
‘It is an insult to the many farmers and landowners in the county. They should be putting up more CCTV cameras in hot spots and asking farmers to meet them halfway with the cost of the camera. Then we can all work together to catch these dirty people who are littering our back roads.
‘The council should work with the farmers , not penalise them for the actions of some dirty low life’ .
