Controversial former county board chairman Peter O Halloran failed in his bid to become the boards assistant secretary after the counting of votes in Dunganny last night.

The Drumconrath club man, who resigned in 2019 after it emerged he had sent WhatsApp messages to referee Patrick Neilis telling him he would be sending him to ‘ride’ Slane in an upcoming match and calling the Boyneside club ‘tramps’, came a distant third in a three horse race.

Seneschalstown man Brian Kelly topped the poll with 136 votes ahead of Dunsanys Brendan Cummins on 44 and O’Halloran on 14.

Chairman, John Kavanagh, secretary Mairead Delaney, treasurer Jim Mullery and PRO Ciaran Flynn all retained their positions.
