Justice Minister Helen McEntee has tested positive for Covid-19.

The local TD confirmed the news this morning, saying she’s now isolating as a result.

Minister McEntee, who announced her pregnancy last month, said information from the HSE shows “pregnant women or their child are not at a higher risk” from the disease.

In a series of tweets, the minister said she would continue to carry out her duties by working remotely from home, including attending Cabinet meetings online.

She has also urged people to act accordingly alongside the public health advice as the country experiences the latest surge of the virus.

Minister McEntee is the second cabinet minister to be diagnosed with coronavirus – after Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue tested positive last month.
