, Peadar Toibin, is calling on the HSE to postpone planned changes to the surgical transfer policy at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan.
Tóibín says the new proposal would mean that all emergency surgery cases presenting at Navan would be transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
Under the current system, transfers are split between a number of hospitals, including Cavan General Hospital and Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
Deputy Tóibín says Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital does not currently have the capacity to deal with the additional workload:
