It’s the end of an era today as the shutters come down on one of Navan’s most iconic newsagents.

After thirty years running his premises on Brews Hill, Ballyjamesduff native Jimmy Reilly will close the doors for a final time this evening.

Having previously worked in the bar trade in Greystones, County Wicklow, Jimmy and his late wife Phylis ran the business in a pleasant and mannerly fashion.

Sadly, Phylis passed away some years ago. They lived above the shop and reared their young family, Aisling, and Darragh.

Reflecting on his four decades at the location Jimmy ‘I enjoyed my time on Brews Hill and it was always a busy spot with its location across from Mercy school and a short walk from St. Pats and especially so on match days in Pairc Tailteann.’

‘I’ve been asked what happens now and I’ll just be happy to put my feet up take it easy and maybe rejoin the Navan Photography Club but I intend to stay based in Navan.

‘I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their business over the years and all the good wishes and messages over the last while.

We at meathlive.net would like to say all the best to one of the towns best know businessmen
