A Meath based entrepreneur is to take on a social media giant in what looks set to be an epic court battle.
Former Dragon’s Den star Gavin Duffy, who lives in Bellewstown, has confirmed he’s going to sue Facebook over fake posts that claimed he was dead.
The Irish Sun is reporting that lawyers acting on behalf of the local businessman and former Presidential candidate, have been instructed to issue a plenary summons for High Court proceedings against the social media giant in the coming weeks.
They’re seeking an order to cease and desist the taking of advertising revenue which fraudulently uses his profile and are also seeking malicious damages.
Mr. Duffy has told the newspaper he’s spent over 40 thousand euro so far on cybersecurity consultants and lawyers.
