A woman has been arrested in connection with the suspected murder of a couple from Co. Meath.

William Maughan and his partner, Ana Varslavanne, who lived in Gormanston, disappeared in April 2015.

The remains of the couple – who were expecting their first child at the time of their disappearance – have never been found.

The woman in her mid-30s was arrested this morning and is currently being held for questioning at Ashbourne Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Gardaí believe the couple were murdered while on their way to meet William’s mother, Helen to get a lift to Tallaght, where the Maughan family lived.

A number of arrests were previously made as part of the investigation last July.

An English man in his 50s was also charged in relation to the discovery of a large quantity of ammunition in the Gormanstown area last April.
