Meath County Council is carrying out a second survey on what connecting Navan to Dublin by train would mean for the local community.

The National Transport Authority is currently assessing the viability of extending the existing rail line from the M3 Parkway near Dunboyne to Navan.

The local authority says the aim of this second more in-depth survey is to highlight the demand for the infrastructure.

The project has been shelved since 2016 despite persistent calls from commuters and business groups for the rail line to be put in place.
