Aontu councillor Emer Toibín has taken to social media to reveal her hopes that a walk at Balrath Woods between Duleek and Kentstown, which has closed for some time will soon be reopened.

She posted on Facebook, ‘Balrath Woods has been closed for a few weeks now much to the dismay of the general public. Many of you were very disappointed to see it closed especially as our daily walk has taken on greater importance at this time.

‘Coillte referred me to Meath County Council and Tree Ireland as they are responsible for it as well as the local steering committee.

‘Next week will see a meeting between all the stakeholders and hopefully, we’ll get some good news about its prompt reopening.

‘The safety of walkers is obviously a concern as is the need to prevent over exposure to excessive traffic on the woodland pathways’.
