Derry City………………………………………………….1

Drogheda United……………………………………….1

The Drogs missed out on the chance to temporarily top the Premier division when only managing to eke out a point in a dour tussle with hosts Derry on Friday night.

Drogheda will be happy coming away with a point against League of Ireland Premier Division veterans Derry City last night.

However, the visitors did throw away the lead just before half-time when a free header from Ronan Boyce cancelled out Jimmy Brown’s earlier close range finish.

There were no goals to report in the second-half and neither ‘keeper had a shot to save.

Brown could well have stolen it at the death and doubled his tally on the night

A share of the spoils was the fairest outcome in a match in which the opening forty five minutes was far ahead of what followed after the break.
