A 24 hour strike by ESB workers part of a union which the company doesn’t recognise is underway.
The Journal.ie reports the Independent Workers Union (IWU) has taken the action over a suspected lack of consultation over work to be outsourced to the private sector.
Workers, who were originally on a work to rule this week, are on the picket line this morning – including in Drogheda, Dundalk and Navan.
The ESB has called the action ‘unlawful’ as the claim that has not been made by the IWU to the company or the Labour Court.
It’s expected to last until 8 O’clock tomorrow morning.
