Local farmer Michael Smith came to the rescue when he saw a distraught dog running on the Old Road in Athlumney on Tuesday of this week

The dog, which turned out to be called ‘Charlie’, was clearly distressed by the thunder and lightning that hit the area that afternoon, and Michael had quite a job persuading home to calm down.

He eventually succeeded and took him in before seeing our notice about a missing dog on Meath Live and got hold of his owner who was driving around the area frantically trying to find him.

Nice to have a good news story with happy ending.
