Ashbourne based councillor Joe Bonner has told planning bosses, “You need to do a total rethink on housing”.
Bonner was speaking out after it emerged an application has been sent in for the construction of high rise apartments at the entrance to the East Meath town, as you arrive in from the Slane road.
He told Meath Live, “ Has the pandemic taught us nothing about space being essential for people’s mental health.
“ The head of the Irish Planning Institute has spoken out about this and come out firmly against the way housing is currently being developed.
I feel we have to stop shoehorning people into cramped areas, it is an issue that people have to be forceful on, stand up and be counted,m and not be backed into a corner over, and very tight cramped corner at that.’
