Athboy man Jamie McGrath made his senior international debut for the Republic of Ireland this evening as an 82nd minute substitute in a 4-1 win against Andorra.

McGrath replaced Troy Parrott for Stephen Kenny’s side and is now the second Meath man to earn senior recognition following on from Dunboyne’s Darragh Lenihan in June 2018.

Athboy Celtic were certainly pleased as they posted on Facebook,

What a moment!! Unbelievable to see Athboy’s own Jamie Mc Grath taking to the field for his first cap for Ireland👏👏🇮🇪🇮🇪
Massive day for Jamie and his family. All at Athboy Celtic are delighted and immensely proud of the amazing achievement for one of our own
