A well known Navan businessman has confirmed to Meath Live that he was the victim of a serious and unprovoked assault along the Ramparts area of the town last Friday Week, (May 28th).
The man, who does not wish to be named, told us, ‘ I was walking back towards town at around six in the evening when a group of four teenagers approached me going the other way.
‘There were two boys and two girls and without warning one of the boys stepped forward and punched me in the eye causing a fair bit of damage.
‘It was totally unprovoked and completely unexpected there had been no verbal exchange no interaction at all between us, I don’t know the guy at all and can’t think of any reason why he did what he done.
‘One of the girls was holding a bottle and she started waving it around in what I can only call a threatening manner and began shouting at me not to ring the ‘effin’ guards.
‘I went down the station here in Navan and reported the attack and as far I am aware the guards went to the scene and arrested someone’.
Meath Live understands there were a number of other incidents involving the same group one of which left a man with serious facial injuries.
A Garda spokesman confirmed ‘Gardaí are investigating a number of assault incidents that occurred in The People’s Park in Navan, Co Meath on the date of the 28th of May 2021.
