St. Vincents 1-15 St. Ultans 0-11

St Vincent’s got back to winning ways with the resumption of football on a beautiful evening in Masterson Park, Ardcath.

It was St. Ultans who got off to a better start going 3 points to 1 ahead in the first twelve minutes. St Vincent’s had 6 wides in this period and a saved shot, but they found their range before the water break with the first point from Nigel Hand (free) and 2 superb points from Eoghan Corry.

After the break, St Vincent’s really got going outscoring their opponents during this period by 1-5 to no score. The only goal of the game came in the 27th minute from a quick run down the right by Adam Tuite who passed to Nigel Hand who passed on to brother Ryan to finish into the net.  Half time score was St. Vincent’s 1-9 to St. Ultans 0-3.

In the second half St. Vincent’s were quick out of the blocks with Nigel Hand scoring 3 points and Jack Byrne adding another superb score to go 1-13 to 0-3 ahead.  St. Ultans rallied well as the St. Vincent’s team made changes and cut the deficit. The final score was 1-15 to 0-11.

It was a deserved success in the first game for St. Vincent’s new management team.
