A number of lifebuoys were vandalised at Mornington Beach last night.
The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue & Recovery Service attended the scene and had to dispatch a rescue boat as the life rings had been thrown into the centre of the shipping lane.
Crew members managed to retrieve three of the life-saving devices before they were restaged in their housing.
One source told Meath Live, ‘Why on earth do people behave so stupidly, these buoys are called lifebuoys for a reason and that is they can and do save lives, anyone who thinks tossing them into the sea is funny has a very strange sense of humour.’
