Ashbourne food bank, set up by Darren in June 2020 will be closing down. Darren set up the food bank during the Covid19 pandemic to serve the people who are in need, especially as he once found himself in need of acquiring a food bank. He claimed it was a “memory he will never forget”.

Darren wrote on the Ashbourne Food bank page yesterday:

“It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the closure of Ashbourne Food Bank. We set up the food bank just over a year ago and we helped so many families in the Ashbourne and surrounding areas. There are many reasons for the closure of the food bank. On a personal level it has been a tough year for me and my family, but we are very proud of what we have done in a short space of time.

We would like to thank everyone in our community who donated and helped out over the past year and to the community as a whole. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but if you are in need of a food hamper we can direct you to other food banks in the Meath area.

All the best.

Darren”
