Aontú leader and Meath West TD, Peadar Toibín, has reacted to the Meath Live story relating to a question Meath County Council failed to answer.

We asked the direct question as to whether or not CEO Jackie Maguire had a relative working for developers Glenveagh Homes, and never received aresponse.

Now Toibín has entered the fray.

He told us, ‘It’s critical that both elected representatives and officials who have influence on processes used in planning and the development of property are open and forthcoming in terms of conflicts of interest real or perceived.

There has been an unhealthy relationship in the past between Cllrs and developers and auctioneers. Indeed in Meath there has been significant controversies over the sale of certain lands.
‘Now there is a battle between our group at Council and FF and FG over  their demand to delete the audio recordings of the County Development Plan debates. None of this is building confidence and trust’.
