This one shows four local women braving the icy waters in the early morning.
It is from the Reconnect book of photos from Laytown woman Brid O’Neill and she told us, ‘These are four ladies who regularly swim each day – between Mornington and Laytown. We met one February morning for sunrise so we could get some shots for the book of them swimming at sunrise at Mornington.
It was a very cold morning- frost on the grass. But no bother to these ladies, in they went just before the sun popped up and it was magical witnessing the sun rise as they swam out to sea.
Swimming has become a very popular activity especially during lockdown.
This photo was taken after they came out of sea and warmed up with some coffee. We sat around and chatted for few hours after and it was wonderful morning’
