A long time stalwart of both Kilbride and Meath GAA, Tommy Mahon, passed away last night.

Below the Kilbride club pay tribute to a true GAA legend.

Kilbride GAA club is in mourning following the passing of one of life’s true gentlemen, Tommy Mahon.

As we wake up this morning, we in the club and around the county and further afield find ourselves grieving for a special friend. Tommy Mahon departed this life in a way that he was so used to—–“without a fuss”.

A man that touched the hearts of so many, both on and off the field.

A true family man who loved the GAA, especially his beloved Kilbride and Meath.

Tommy Mahon was Chairman of our club for over 30 years and our Honorary Club President.

A former player who won everything. Included are junior, intermediate and senior football championship titles & Feis Cups with Kilbride in the 60s & 70s. Add in a hurling medal with neighbours Ratoath. A County Minor Board Chairman he was an  All Ireland winning selector with Meath at minor and under 21 levels and a distinguished referee in his day.

Today we mourn but we will also celebrate his life as we recall the fond recollections of a man that touched so many hearts.

It’s was on Saturday that we had our most recent memory when we saw Tommy in Pairc Tailteann one last time, cheering on his grandson Josh Harford as he played for his beloved Meath in the Leinster minor championship.
