The death, at his home in Spain, has occurred of the former long-serving Navan councillor and Navan Urban Council chairman, Danny Fitzpa
A highly respected businessman for many years he ran Abbeylands Furniture on Flower Hill in Navan.
Originally a Labour representative, he was first elected in 1967, and became chairman 21 years later. He later joined Fianna Fail, and when he retired in 1998, he was succeeded by the current deputy mayor of Navan, Cllr Tommy Reilly, who was co-opted to his seat.
Mr Fitzpatrick was also a member of Meath County Council.
He will be very sadly missed by his devoted wife Emily, children Danny, Caroline, Kevin, Sandra, Pauline, Barry, Dianne, Mark, Brian and Alison, their spouses and partners, sister Claire (Dunne), brothers Billy, Jimmy, Michael and John (predeceased), grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be finalised.
