Gaeil Colmcille 1-7

Wolfe Tones      1-7

Tom Gavigan sounds like a name long associated with Kells, but this Tom popped up with a  stoppage time point earned to earnWolfe Tones a draw with neighbours their neighbors in this SFC opener at Pairc Tailteann early on Sunday afternoon.

A swirling wind negated both sides efforts to play good football and didn’t help Cian Ward’s attempt to win the game for his side from a 45-metre free in the last act of the game. It went wide at the town end.

Ward still retains the sharp thinking and vision that once saw him star at county level and displayed this five minutes before the break. A Tones free was broguht forward for dissent and Ward took a quick one whch he lashed to the net.

The sides shared six points in the second-half, with most coming in the latter stages, with the sides level four times over the hour.

The Kells side led by 1-4 to 1-3 at the interval..
