Meath has another world championship medallist to celebrate.
Ratoath’s Taylor Quinn claimed the bantamweight bronze medal when he defeated a hometown Czech opponent in the Czech capital Prague earlier today.
He told Meath Live,’ I won by TKO, a few head kicks and a triangle choke hold done it for me and I’m absolutely buzzing over it, I’m going for gold now and nobody will stop me’.
Quinn conceded that going into the tournament with a losing record may have benefitted him.
‘Overlooked and underrated that’s me, I have had the good fortune that my club coach Andy Ryan who runs Ryno’s club in Finglas is also head coach of Team Ireland here, and having someone who knows you really well in your corner is a massive help.
‘I fight again tomorrow against a guy from Bahrain, that’s a country that has produced top-class fighters, but I’m in form and looking forward to it.’
