Volvo Cars has unveiled a single electric motor variant of its pure electric Volvo XC40 Recharge compact SUV, writes Brian Byrne.

The car expands the company’s range of electric models and further paves the way towards the company’s ambition of selling only fully electric cars by 2030.

It is the second electric-only XC40 variant, joining the dual-motor XC40 Recharge Twin. It delivers 231 horsepower from a 69-kWh battery and an anticipated range of around 400 km on a single charge under the WLTP drive cycle.

The new single motor XC40 Recharge is available to order in Ireland and, like all pure electric Volvo models, will be available for ordering online via as part of Volvo Cars’ new commercial strategy.
