Meath Live has learned that a number of serious incidents have taken place in Navan over the last month as a dispute between rival gangs involved in the drugs trade locally threatens to spiral out of control.

In the first incident a number of people attacked a house on the Claremont estate and broke a number of windows, a number of weapons including a hatchet were used in the attack.

As a direct reprisal, a man was attacked and badly beaten up a number of days later.

It is understood the two gangs are located at opposite ends of the town.
