Finance Minister, Pascal Donohue, says the closure of more than a third of Bank of Ireland branches is a reflection of a big change in how people bank.

88 branches will close their doors across the country for the final time today following the Bank’s announcement last March.

They include Athboy, Enfield, and Ratoath in Meath.

It’s part of a trend towards online services while BOI has advised customers that some transactions will now be available through the post office.
