This is the exclusive first picture of Kells’s mother Cathy McGeough with her terminally ill son Shane following her lengthy battle to be allowed to visit him in Adelaide, Australia.
Shane has been told he has a brain tumour and has been undergoing treatment for a number of weeks after being told he has a life expectancy of between fifteen months and three years.
Meath Live highlighted Cathy’s efforts to acquire a travel visa to be with her son, she was struggling to get one due to Australia’s serious Covid restrictions, and after a concerted campaign, she was granted one three weeks ago.
She then had to quarantine for fourteen days until a delighted Shane collected her from a quarantine hotel just last Thursday.
He told Meath Live, ‘As you might imagine it was a pretty emotional reunion and it is just great she is here with me and my family.’
Cathy’s arrival means she will be able to look after granddaughter Harlow freeing up Shanes partner Michelle Farrell, also from Kells, to travel with him to his hospital appointments.
