Three people have been arrested after trying to scam elderly people into giving them money in Kells.
Residents in the Fr. McCullen Park estate, on the Cavan road, called cops and reported that two women and a man were acting suspiciously by calling door-to-door, claiming to have various disabilities, and asking them for cash.
Gardaí spoke to the residents who said that they felt afraid when the strangers knocked on their doors on Thursday, having been uninvited.
Two women, one aged in her 30s and the other in her late teens, and a man in his late teens were later arrested for trespassing and public order offences.
They were taken to Kells Garda Station where they were charged and they will appear before the courts next month.
