We always suspected that living in Meath was thirsty work, and it appears we have been proved right!

New figures show five percent of the country’s pubs have permanently closed since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Vintners’ Federation of Ireland and Licensed Vintners Association have analysed the latest licence renewals published by the Revenue Commissioners.

A total of 349 pubs have shut their doors for good, including seven in Louth, between January of last year and this September.

However, Meath is the only county where there has been an increase (three) in pub licences.

We’ll definitely drink to that!
