Independent councillor Nick Killian has blasted the amount of form filling being foisted upon local representatives.

Speaking at today’s monthly council meeting Killian was reacting to the revelation that councillors now have to fill in quarterly and annual reports on their outside activity, the boards they are attached to and all related activity.

He slammed, ‘ It’s beyond a nonsense having to compile quarterly and annual reports, it’s time consuming and councillors are fed up to the teeth of having to fill out forms especially as these activities are already well documented elsewhere.

‘This even gives the media the opportunity to have a go at us in relation to the expenses we claim and the amount of meetings we attend.

‘This is all coming from the mandarins in the Customs House in a bid to curtail the role of councillors.’
