Goalscorer Jake Regan

Navan O’Mahonys ……………………1-13

Navan O’Mahonys completed a 21 point turnaround from when those sides met in the SFC group stages, they lost by nine back then, to see off Dunshaughlin’s weak challenge in Friday night’s relegation playoff in Dunganny.

Throw in was put back fifteen minutes to facilitate the admittance of a bumper crowd but once the action started the Brews Hill side were in cruise control all the way, and even though they didn’t need it they were handed help late in the first half when Dunshaghlin defender Ben Duggan was sent off after an altercation with the winners Duggie Dillon.

It was 0-7 to 0-2 at the interval and it could have been worse but for a superb double save from David Jennings that denied first  Jake Regan then Stephen Bray.

When a goal did arrive it had an eleme

nt of good fortune attached to it as  Brian ‘O Hanlon’s shot for a point came down off the upright and Regan reacted fastest to net the rebound.
