A number of people aged in their seventies and eighties were taken to hospital following a two car collision at Cassidy’s Cross near Castletown on Sunday evening.

The collision occurred at around 7.15pm on the R162 Navan to Kingscourt Road.

Several ambulances were at the scene, with Gardai and Meath Fire Service also in attendance.

It is understood that none of the injuries were life-threatening.

The road was closed for a time with diversions in place, but has since reopened.
