Meath’s opening match of the season away to Wicklow in the O’Byrne Cup this Saturday, has been postponed.

Leinster Council confirmed the news on Wednesday morning, and while they gave no further details for the cancellation, it’s understood it relates to COVID and injury issues within the Wicklow camp.

It’s a scenario that is likely to be repeated nationwide with more matches likely to be under threat due to the COVID situation.

It now means that Andy McEntee’s sides first game will be away, in Stradbally, against Laois this day week
