A firefighter has been taken to hospital after a water tanker overturned near Kilmoon Cross yesterday evening while responding to a call-out.

A spokesperson for Meath County Council has confirmed that no other vehicles were involved and the crew member who was taken to the hospital is in a stable condition.

Gardaí says a man in his 40s was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital following a single-vehicle collision at Hawkinstown, Duleek around 7:15 pm.

Photos of the badly damaged water carrier were shared in a post on social media but they were removed at the request of a fire officer.

In a separate incident, a fire appliance was involved in a minor collision with a car on the R150 at Kentstown shortly before 7 pm.

The occupants of the car – a man in his late teens and a teenage boy were brought to the Lourdes hospital as a precaution.
