It’s been revealed that businesses owe Meath County Council over €2.8 million in uncollected rates.

The local authority’s rate collection report for last year was published at its monthly meeting on Monday.

Over €31 million in rates was collected during 2021 while €915,000 was written off as bad debts.

The Chief Executive of Meath County Council told the meeting that when assessing the latest figures, it’s important to remember that businesses have faced two years of Covid-19 restrictions.
