A well attended Cheltenham preview took place at Navan Racecourse on Wednesday night.
Sponsored by Noel and Valerie Moran and hosted by the Racing Post’s David Jennings, local trainers Gavin Cromwell and Gordon Elliot voiced their opinions.
Moran has a number of runners at the festival all trained by Elliot and the two were united in putting Queens Brook, who runs in the 4.10 on the opening day as their pick of Moran’s runners.
Cromwell won the Stayers hurdle with Flooring Porter last year and is bullish about repeating the feat with the front runner who is likely to go off favourite this time around.
Another Moran runner, Ginto is likely to by pass taking on Sir Gerhard in Wednesdays opener and take his chances in the Albert Bartlett on Friday and is currently a 3/1 shot to maintain his unbeaten record over hurdles.
The Ronnie Bartlett owned Galvin represents Elliot , who said, ‘I’d love to win another Gold Cup and I’d especially love to do it for Ronnie who is a proper racing man, Galvin won’t be far away.’
