Trim FG councillor Noel French has described Irish Water bosses as chickens after they refused an invitation to meet with Meath county council.

French initially made the call at last Monday’s monthly council meeting, but today he doubled down on his claims, telling Meath Live, ‘I stand by what I said.’

He added, ‘I have met Irish Water bosses privately this week but really they should have the courage to come before a full council meeting and address members concerns in a public forum where minutes could be taken so as to have what they said on public record

‘I asked about Trim outages and Irish Water said that mains serving the Dublin Road was the main weak point in the network at present. Irish Water are trying to minimise the number of homes affected by outages as a result. Irish Water said that they hoped to do replacement work on the Dublin Road mains in Trim later this year.

‘If they could say that privately why could they not go on the record with it.’
