Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has told of her anger at being blamed for the HSE decision to replace the A&E services in Navan hospital with a Medical Assessment Unit.
Speaking to Ken Murray on LMFM this morning she declared, ‘ I am really frustrated that I am being blamed and others are being blamed for potentially someone’s life being put at risk.’
However, McEntee appeared to suggest that despite the government not yet having approved the HSE move that there is a possibility they may yet do so, when she said, ‘ We have been saying for years that all we want is the appropriate services for the people of the county and if people have to go elsewhere for them that’s fine.
‘But I have clinicians and the Director of Services in Drogheda telling me they don’t have the capacity to deal with extra patients
‘It is absolutely baffling that the HSE would try to push through changes at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan without consulting the other hospitals impacted by the changes.’
