Well-known local man Joe Smith and his son Joe(Jnr) with his son Darren, above enjoyed Fathers Day last Sunday with a few well-deserved pints in the Railway Bar, Navan.

Joe is a well-known character around Navan and recently celebrated his 80th birthday back in February. A dedicated family man he was out celebrating

Fathers Day with all his sons Joe, David and Stephen along with his grandson Darren. Stephen made the trip home from Spain to be with his parents Joe and Nancy for the weekend.

Joe and Nancy have lived in Beechmount Estate since the 70s and are dedicated and community-minded people that keep the estate in tip-top order.

Joe’s dedication goes beyond the call of duty and over the many years he has lived there he would and continues to maintain the common grounds. Now retired Jow worked in the building trade

and Nancy worked in the famous Beechmount Hotel now gone.

At the weekend The Railway Bar was also pulling in the punters with a major fundraising drive to support the Children’s Health Foundation.

Another local family based up in Beechmount the Seerys were the driving force behind the festival ;

Speaking to David and Bridie Seery who along with their son Kieran helped make it work.

‘There was great support over the weekend and the money raised will go to the foundation. ‘ they commented.

The Seery family also run Flowerbite which specialises in hanging baskets and floral

displays around the town and surrounds.
