Kilmessan opened their Senior and Intermediate hurling championship campaigns in disappointing fashion.
In the SHC Killyon were victorious in Boardsmill. An understrenght Kilmessan trailed at the break 0-10 to 0-9. Killyon dominated the second half and went on to record a 0-24 to 0-17 win.

In the Intermediate championship Gaeil Colmcille proved too strong for a battling Kilmessan side at Lomans Park Trim. Kilmessan trailed 1-12 to 0-6 at the break and despite an improved second half display the Kells side got late scores to pull away in the end and finish 2-18 to 1-11 winners.
